CBS - CREDIT MACQ DECISIONS OFFICER
Adhere to current policies and procedures and achieve mastery of the policy by:
- Learning and understanding the Merchant Acquiring Policies and Procedures Manual (MAPPM)
- Achieving a passing score in the Credit Assessment Test (CAT) conducted annually.
- Passing the revalida administered by a panel of experts from Credit Acquisition / Risk Management.
- Being updated on information security guidelines and compliance related requirements.
Achieve the key performance indicators of the Unit, e.g., service indicators, accuracy, turn-around-time, efficiency, approval rates, error reviews, audit assessments and others.
- Responsible in ensuring zero aged (beyond the standard TAT) or missing / lost merchant application in the inventory.
- Ensures timely and accurate processing of requests for reconsideration and those that require special handling and provide prompt feedback to MACQ Sales.
- Initiates strategies to maximize resources and minimize errors to ensure that all performance indicators are met.
- Advocate and supports environment of continuous process improvement.
Strengthen the service standards in handling internal and external customers
- Provides timely feedback to the requestor for Priority 1 requests
- Effectively manages the target deviation cap
- Build strong relationship with stakeholders to address issues and challenges in terms of documentary requirements.
- Recommend deactivation and disaffiliation of merchants based on assessment of performance review and compliance to vital requirements.
Business Knowledge and Systems
- Learn and understand the card host system (PRIME), internal (such as NFC, CIF, IDBS, LexisNexis) and external (Visa Online, MasterCard Trace and World Check One) modules.
- Accurately updates and maintains various MIS reports.
- Keen expertise in interpreting business and legal documents but not limited to IDs, General Information Sheet, Secretary’s Certificate, Articles of Incorporation, By-Laws, DTI Certificate, Business Permit, Audited Financial Statement, Merchant Agreement.
Fulfill the required functions in processing a merchant application
- Conducts telephone verification to merchants. Perform due diligence or probing when needed.
- Endorse applications for ocular (as applicable) and evaluate the result.
- Accurately read the merchant application form and various MCC templates submitted by MACQ Sales. Identify gaps that may lead to auditable issues, and escalate matter on a timely manner.
- Perform technical function related to upload activity such as Alipay / WeChat, QR codes, P2M and Non-PPMI profile creation.
- Detects possible fraudulent merchant application and ensure timely escalation to stakeholders
- Provide assessment to assign an accurate risk level (low, medium, high) based on the policy requirement, submitted document and verification result.
Performance of Control Functions
- Conducts annual and portfolio review within a specified timeframe.
- Ensures that decision is compliant with the policies and procedures.
- Promptly escalates issues to the supervisor that may result to risk exposure.
Handling of special assignments and projects.
- Ensures that Procedures Manual is updated with the current policies and process requirements.
- Leads on special projects that may be assigned from time to time.
- Initiates projects that will help achieve the unit’s target.
- Ensures that assigned projects are carried out completely and should monitor/analyze the results through an establish MIS report.
Performs projects or tasks that may be assigned form time to time (e.g. BORC, BCP, Cost Champion, Corporate Correspondents, Line Trainer, e-Champ).

Position Title: Credit MACQ Decisions Officer
Job Summary
The Credit MACQ Decisions Officer is responsible for accurately prescreening and evaluating merchant applications to ensure sound credit decisions. This includes validating documentary requirements, conducting internal and external credit checks, and applying established policies and guidelines. The role requires mastery of Merchant Acquiring Policies and Procedures and active monitoring of credit and process deviations within acceptable tolerance levels. The officer also classifies high-risk merchants, performs enhanced due diligence in compliance with regulatory standards, and ensures timely resolution of document deferrals to maintain policy adherence.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Policy Compliance and Mastery
• Gain comprehensive knowledge of Merchant Acquiring Policies and Procedures Manual (MAPPM).
• Successfully pass annual Credit Assessment Test and revalidation by Credit Acquisition/Risk Management.
• Stay updated on information security and compliance requirements.
Operational Performance
• Meet unit KPIs such as accuracy, turnaround time, efficiency, approval rates, and audit standards.
• Prevent aged or missing merchant applications beyond standard turnaround time.
• Process reconsideration requests and special cases promptly, providing timely feedback to MACQ Sales.
• Implement strategies to optimize resources and minimize errors.
Risk Management and Due Diligence
• Classify merchants by risk level (low, medium, high) based on policy and verification results.
• Detect and escalate potential fraudulent applications.
• Conduct telephone verification and ocular inspections when necessary.
System and Documentation Expertise
• Utilize internal and external systems (e.g., PRIME, NFC, CIF, IDBS, LexisNexis, Visa Online, MasterCard Trace, World Check One).
• Interpret business and legal documents such as IDs, permits, financial statements, and corporate papers.
• Maintain accurate MIS reports and ensure proper documentation.
Continuous Improvement and Customer Service
• Advocate process improvements and efficiency initiatives.
• Provide timely feedback for priority requests and manage deviation caps.
• Build strong relationships with stakeholders to resolve documentation issues.
Control Functions and Special Projects
• Conduct annual/portfolio reviews and ensure compliance with policies.
• Escalate risk-related issues promptly.
• Lead or participate in special projects and ensure updated procedures manuals.
• Performs projects or tasks that may be assigned from time to time (e.g. BORC, BCP, Cost Champion, Corporate Correspondents, Line Trainer, e-Champ).
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree holder; preferably business course
- Minimum 2 years in Merchant Acquiring or related credit evaluation roles.
- Wiling to work onsite 100% in Makati City
- Willing to render overtime (if needed)
