Job Summary:

Responsible for evaluating and deciding on retail credit risks involving Consumer (Metrohome and Metrocar) loan applications using the credit parameters set forth by the Bank and external regulators (e.g. BSP) to maintain loan portfolio without sacrificing credit quality and the  Division’s objective of maximizing profit and committed turnaround time

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Conduct a sound and tight credit evaluation of retail loan Borrowers through an objective/impartial assessment of their personal and professional profile (character, management/financials, product lines or business lines) using the credit parameters set forth by the Bank
  • Exercises single approving authority with limits as  delegated  by  the  EXCOM  for Metrohome and  Metrocar loans
  • Exercises judgement whether application being reviewed/evaluated will be recommended for approval, disapproval or place on hold pending submission of other requirements or further checking are still to be conducted  and ensures that approval of proper authority is sought on cases of deviations from the approved guidelines:
  • Decides based on the merits of the account and deviations within delegated authority limits
  • Uses ILAPS in reviewing borrower’s profile,  capacity  to pay  and  acceptability of collateral  
  • Checks  correct  total  exposure,  exposes  deviations and ensures  that   proper  justifications and  mitigants  are  provided   and   appropriate approval  is  sought
  • Reviews validated checking/information gathered conducted by Credit Verifiers (CVs)
  • Coordinates with RMs/AOs regarding KYC on loan borrowers (personal information, affiliations, businesses, related accounts, nature of credits on deposits, explanation on adverse findings/checkings, etc.)
  • Assists  in  follow-ups and  requests for additional checking which is necessary for the account
  • Prepares appropriate approval media for routing to credit committees
  • Recommends  or  make  a  decision  to either  approve or  disapprove  an account highlighting  both the  merits and  red flags on the account
  • Prepares  the  proper notification scripts in the  notepad  which  are  lifted by Front End  Section   to  notify   AOs/branches regarding status of accounts
  • Explains to AOs/branches decision of the credit committee, when necessary
  • Maintain an effective and cordial relationship with the lending and marketing units by:
  • Assisting them on inquiries pertaining to status of retail accounts and requirements
  • Informing them of the possible risks involved in major reconsideration request by highlighting deviations accordingly
  • Discussing and suggesting ways to adequately cover the Bank from marginal risk account brought about by marketing considerations
  • Provide pro-active feedback on credit processes, criteria, policies and procedures which become input for changes in the lending programs
  • Addresses queries regarding validation and evaluation concerns

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree holder; preferably graduate of business course
  • Atleast   2-3   years working experience in the banking industry, preferably loan applications for car and home
  • Has a broad understanding on retail consumer business
  • Proficient in the following Microsoft applications: Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Credit and  Financial Analysis
