Position Title: Head, Investment Analysis Department
Job Summary:
Investment Analysis Department is responsible for conducting investment research, due diligence and internal credit and equity rating assessment of existing and prospective issuers and investments, including credit evaluation of fixed income, analysis of equities, and assessment of counterparties and brokers for onboarding and periodic review. It also performs annual reviews of approved investment outlets to identify potential deterioration in asset quality, credit worthiness, and overall financial strength for proactive risk mitigation. It provides rigorous research and analytical insights which serve as key inputs in the development of investment strategies, portfolio positioning, and decision-making for portfolio managers, trust clients and partner units.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Evaluation and Analysis of Issuers and Investment Outlets
- Conducts investment evaluation, including financial analysis and evaluation, on existing and prospective fixed income and equity issuers, both local and global, which serves as basis for approval of investment proposals for approval by the Trust Committee
- Prepares evaluation of other
- Coverage of evaluation extends to prospective assets under directional mandates such as direct US and global equity investments, local INMES and Real Estate Properties
- Releases comprehensive Investment Reports on upcoming fixed income and equity issuances which includes the issuer profile, financial analysis, key considerations, and investment terms, for use of portfolio managers and clients in decision-making
• Risk Monitoring of Investments, Counterparties and Brokers
- Conducts a comprehensive annual review of fixed income and equity issuers (including INMES), to identify adverse developments in asset quality, credit worthiness, and overall financial strength for pro-active risk mitigation.
- Conducts and ensures timely completion of annual review of accredited counterparties and equity brokers to help mitigate risks in executing trade transactions and ensure going concern
- Performs annual review of the financial condition of equity brokers as an input in the Broker Ranking System which guides equity trade allocation by Investment Execution Officers
- Generates internal credit and equity risk ratings for both accredited and client-directed issuers to ensure investments of clients are within acceptable standards
- Monitors and flags deteriorated fixed income and equity investments under trust to provide investors with ample time to liquidate as needed
• Investment Advisory for Strategy Formulation
- Provides actionable insights from investment research of domestic equities and global fixed income investments in the TBG universe for use in model portfolio and framework construction and rebalancing, to aid discretionary portfolio managers in strategy formulation
- Attends market conferences, and corporate earnings briefings to stay informed of industry developments, evaluate emerging trends and generate insights to contribute to the development of sound investment recommendations
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration, Mathematics or a related field. Master's Degree in Business Administration (MBA), Finance, Economics or Investment Management is a plus.
- Minimum of 5 to 7 years of progressive experience in investment analysis, equity research, fixed income analysis, asset management, trust banking or treasury background.
- Preferably with 2 to 3 years of leadership or people management experience in managing investment/ research analysts or equivalent investment professionals.
- Demonstrated track record in:
- Conducting and leading in-depth credit, financial, and valuation analyses of fixed-income and equity investments.
- Managing investment risk monitoring frameworks and evaluating sector and issuer-specific risks
- Driving investment strategies and identifying market opportunities to help in decision-making of portfolio managers
- Delivering high-quality investment and company research by providing strategic insights and recommendations
- Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to deliver appropriate investment advisory initiatives
- Professional certifications are preferred but not required:
- Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA)
- Trust Operations and Investments Certification
- Treasury Certification Program
- Fixed Income Market Certification
- Other investment, trust banking or treasury-related certifications
