Position Title: Payments Officer

 

Job Summary:
 

Directs, coordinates, maintains, and supervises inward payments operations; monitors the implementation of department’s policies and procedures and recommends improvements; ensures prompt and accurate processing of inward payments transactions; participates in establishing and implementing policies and procedures ensuring compliance to regulatory standards;  and serves as a resource in inward payments operations; assigns, directs and appraises inward payments specialist.

 

Role Exposure:

  • Assists in developing and implementing short and long term goals and objectives of the department, such as but not limited to budget preparation, development and implementation of policies and procedures consistent to regulatory requirements and standards; timely and accurate processing of transactions; monitoring of transaction for regulatory compliance/reporting; and coordination with different  units on inward payments related matters.
  • Supervises and observes timely and accurate processing of inward payments transactions.
  • Reviews and authorizes payment orders for processing.
  • Maintains optimum level of supplies/logistics for use in the department’s operation. 
  • Reviews and authorizes rates provided by Treasury Group.
  • Handles and monitors the immediate resolution of outstanding account payables, account receivables, sundry credits, sundry debits and other float items concerning the department.
  • Attends promptly to the inquiries of branches and other units of the bank. 
  • Approves and monitors above threshold transactions based on established policies and procedures, including but not limited to hold-out and lifting of held transactions.
  • Handles coordination and submission of internal and external audit.  Ensures that findings are taken into account and corresponding adjustments are made.         
  • Prepares and monitors submission of the unit’s reportorial requirements including regulatory reports.
  • Approves personnel work schedule, leave availments and other attendance-related transactions as delegated; enforces work rules and adherence to establish internal operating policies and procedures and initiates programs that will serve the department’s needs.
  • Provides leadership to inward payments personnel through effective objective setting, delegation and communication.  Conducts meetings to ensure that staff are well abreast of changes in policies and procedures related to work
  • Conducts training seminars on inward payments operations to newly hired employees as well as to Officer’s Development Program (ODP) students and sits as alternate in their oral exam.
  • Stays informed of trends and developments in the payments industry and in the field of banking as a whole.
  • Performs other related functions that may be assigned from time to time

 

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor's Degree of any Business Course
  • Relevant work experience in Payment Operations
