Position Title: Computer Operator

 

Job Summary:
 

The Computer Operator works under the supervision of the Shift Supervisor and is responsible for:

 

    • Diagnosis and trouble-shooting of batch processing errors
    • Adhoc scheduling of data center batch jobs in case of reruns 
    • Investigation of exceptional batch processing behavior
    • Coordination of adhoc batch processing requests from applications managers, customer service, etc.

 

Assists in training new computer operators

 

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Supports efficient data center operations by:
    • Ensuring that the required on-line files are open for the operational transaction channels
    • Reviewing the daily operations schedule and any requested special processing
    • Monitoring of computer consoles
    • Monitoring execution of scheduled batch jobs
    • Investigating possible causes of prolonged execution of jobs or unreleased/pending jobs
    • Investigating possible causes of premature termination of batch jobs
    • Resolving production problems in coordination with applications support
    • Restaging jobs that encountered problems
    • Maintaining logs of operations activities and encountered production problems
    • Setting up peripheral equipment for printing computer output

 

  • Safeguards and monitors the health of the equipment endorsed to Batch Control Section.  Escalates encountered problems to the appropriate support personnel and/or monitors the status of the problems until resolved.

 

  • Assists production control apprentice/officer by:
    • Reviewing and executing batch processing changes due to new system implementations
    • Recommending enhancements for a faster and more efficient batch processing

 

  • Trains new computer operators

 

  • When assigned, functions as the custodian of half of the endorsed emergency IDs and logs used IDs

 

  • When assigned, functions as the data center’s shift supervisor in periods where there is no shift supervisor

 

  • Performs other duties as may be assigned, such as:
    • scheduling of on-line posting batch jobs
    • uploading/downloading of payment files for external Bank clients
    • modifying job parameters for special requests
    • supporting actual and simulated disaster recovery activities

 

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of any IT-related course
  • At least 1 year of related experience but fresh graduates are welcome to apply
