Business Process and Compliance Officer

 

Job Summary:

The position is responsible for the development and implementation of various process improvement initiatives, business strategies and process risk mitigating controls to support Credit Acquisition (Cards and PL) in the areas of operating efficiency, bookings and quality of application processing.

The position shall also assist the Business Process and Compliance Manager in managing credit related regulatory requirements (BSP, AMLA, etc.) and internal audits, and in formulating and coordinating responses to credit-related ad hoc requests from regulators. The officer shall interpret regulations and performs self-assessment/process reviews to identify and address gaps, if any, to ensure compliance of Credit Acquisition to relevant regulatory standards.

 

Specific Competencies

Handling of strategy formulation and execution

  • Develops and implements various process improvement initiatives to support business goals of improving turn-around-time (TAT), bookings, and accuracy of credit evaluation.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to implement process changes
  • Assists in the implementation of new credit policies and processes to ensure these are instigated properly.
  • Assists in the implementation of new strategies and processes in the Loans Origination System (LOS).
  • Analyzes and monitors implemented changes to business processes and make adjustments as needed

Handling of compliance to regulatory requirement

  • In close coordination with Strategic Support Division, Compliance, AMLD and other related stakeholders to perform the following governance roles for Credit Acquisition (Cards and PL) including Merchant Acquiring

  • Assigned as the alternate Compliance Coordinator of the  Credit Acquisition Division
  • Consolidates policy circulars or bulletins related to regulations applicable to Credit Acquisition Division
  • Assists in the implementation and dissemination of laws, regulations, rules, standards and other regulatory requirements. Attend governance forums/meetings to provide updates.
  • Analyzes key upcoming regulatory guidance to assess level of compliance with current practice.
  • Performs oversight function/regular audits and work closely with the business units in the performance of independent assessment of policy and process ensuring compliance to existing and new regulatory requirements. Recommend action to address any gaps or deficiencies.
  • Elevates complex regulatory issues to Business Process and Compliance Manager, Strategic Support Division, Compliance and/or AMLD for clarification or resolution.
  • Assists in the implementation and monitoring of audit deliverables, compliance controls, compliance procedures and operational processes.
  • Serves as point of contact on all compliance and regulatory matters. Interact and handle communication with internal and external auditors on matters related to audits/regulations and internal compliance controls in coordination with the other business units.
  • Coordinate in the preparation and completion of regulatory and compliance documents. Assist in the preparation of senior management reports on regulatory requirements, internal audits, and credit reviews.
  • Participates in the testing on system developments or enhancements concerning regulatory requirements.
  • Perform projects or tasks that may be assigned from time to time (eg. BORC, BCP, Cost Champion, Corp. Correspondents, Line trainer, e-Champ)

Performance of Control Functions

  • Ensure that new policies and procedures are cascaded to team in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Ensure that unit’s procedures manual is complete and updated
  • Create control processes where risks are anticipated and identified
  • Escalate issues that may results to bank risk
  • Give feedback to, and cooperates with, other departments
  • Ensure the proper management of projects assigned him/her or to the team

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree holder; preferably graduate of business course; units or master’s degree in business is an advantage
  • 3-5 years’ experience in consumer loans, preferably from a reputable bank.
  • At least 1 year of experience in regulatory compliance, internal/external audit, business controls or similar function.
  • Has good interpersonal skills and can work with various work groups within the organization
  • Must have strong communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. 
  • Preferably with experience in building business strategies and with background on project or UAT management or with exposure to projects.
  • With exposure in handling audit and regulatory compliance for consumer loans
  • Results-oriented; has ability to meet performance indicators of the Unit/Divisions. Has proven integrity and honesty.
  • Proven ability to plan, organize, and handle multiple tasks or projects simultaneously; ability to work under pressure.
