Position Title: Credit Review Officer – Financial Institutions 

 

Job Summary: 

  • Preparation, Evaluation and Renewal of loan proposals via the ERCA 
  • Credit Risk and Portfolio Management
  • Conformity to internal and external policies

 

Role Exposure:

• Should ensure consistent and advance coordination with Financial Market Segment (FMS) counterparts on the timely submission of pre-approval documents, and the active management of his/her assigned portfolio of accounts together with the lending officer / relationship manager.

• Prepares the Evaluation and Recommendation for Credit Accommodation with FMS.

• Validates data provided by lending units , based on the submitted pre-approval documents and credit call report prepared, if any, using financial validation techniques and indicating these inputs in the proposal.

• May also be asked to prepare the Optimist spreadsheet and financial evaluation of non bank financial institutions handled by Institutional Banking Segment (IBS) and foreign branches 

• Responsible to request for an updated Credit Investigation Report (CIR) and conduct credit checking on bank’s database, i.e. Internal Data Bank System (IDBS), List of Adversely Classified Accounts (ACA), and BOCD report, all in preparation for the ERCA renewal

• May accompany the FMS team in conducting client calls investor briefings on potential and existing clients. Minutes and findings to be documented via a Credit Call Report.

• Ensures completeness and timely uploading of pre-approval documents (such as the Inspection and Appraisal Report (IAR), Audited Financial Statement (AFS), Credit Investigation Report (CIR), IDBS, etc.) inside the Docuware database.

• Prepares and analyzes the Bank Focus or Optimist financial spreadsheet of historical and projected financial statements (audited/interim/inhouse).

• As part of the evaluation, should ensure accurate financial spreadsheets and analysis, understands the business model, research and identify the key risks (Management /Ownership Risks; Financial Risks; Business and Industry Risks; Exposure Risks, etc) and their mitigants, if any. 

• Determine and assess  credit risk rating and classification and ensure these are appropriate and relevant at all times

• Identify all relevant policy and regulatory deviations to arrive at a fair assessment of the overall risks and make balanced recommendations.

• Ensures that renewals are processed in a timely manner and that any credit monitoring is done in a timely manner, esp for challenged credits.

• Performs other related functions that are incidental in performing one’s duties and responsibilities, and other functions that may be assigned from time to time.   

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of any Business-related courses, preferably Economics, Accounting or Finance
  • At least 3 years working experience in credit with focus on commercial and corporate loans, and preferably with exposure to financial institutions 
  • Knowledgeable in credit risk analysis
  • Well versed in EBITDA, and using/managing spreadsheets
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills
  • Must have a pro-active approach to problem solving and the ability to meet tight deadlines
