 Position Title: Deputy Head, Research and Business Analytics Department

 Job Summary:

  • Working together with the Department Head in providing macro, industry and financial market research reports, forecasts and advisory services to the Board; Senior Management; business units (Treasury, Trust, Institutional Banking, Retail, Private Wealth, among others); and institutional and retail clients.
  • Develop actionable insights that will assist the bank in its planning and risk management; and the clients on their business and investments strategies.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert as a speaker or resource, on economic and financial market issues in various forums to internal stakeholders, clients, and the public.
  • Provide research content for the bank’s research publications and website.
  • Initiates and designs the various models, frameworks and tools that are necessary for economic, business, and financial analysis, forecasting and qualitative outlook assessment.
  • Ensures the independence and objectivity of the content output, ensuring a clear demarcation (“chinese wall”) between the content and research output of the department relative to the advertising sales teams of the Bank.
  • Performs other related functions that may be assigned or required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Business Administration, Statistics or a related field
  • Data science work experience with domain expertise in macroeconomics, finance and investments
  • Applied data analysis work in a research role
  • Knowledge of advanced statistics and statistical software packages for data analytics especially programming skills in R or Python
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills with extensive writing or presentation experience in a research or data analytics
  • Applied project management skills and ability to work with different functional teams
  • Proficiency in MS Excel (especially VBA programming and working knowledge of relational databases management systems an advantage
