Position Title: Head, Risk Identification and Assessment Department

 

Job Summary:

Oversee the management of operational risks thru risk identification and assessment of Business Units’ operations resulting from inadequate and failed internal processes, systems, people and external events.

Recommend operational risk mitigation measures to control and contain operational risks and losses.

Develop, implement and manage operational risk management tools and techniques to reinforce a strong risk management culture and facilitate the proactive management through identification and assessment of operational risk issues and concerns.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manages the development and implementation of operational risk management framework (ORMF) and operational risk management tools that aid in the risk profiling of the Business Units using results of existing implemented tools as reference
  • Manages the update of operational risk manuals relating to policy, process, procedure and people (e.g., ORMF, Operational Risk Tools policies and procedures etc.
  • Communicates and facilitates the use of Operational Risk Management methodologies, tools and techniques.
  • For commercial and retail operational risk management team, participates in managing high-risk strategic projects, products and channel of commercial and retail segment in relation to policies or issues on operational risk.
  • Develop or design appropriate training materials and conduct trainings and coaching on ORMF and tools, as necessary.
  • Evaluate soundness of BUs’ Risk committed Treatment Plans (RTP) and recommend sensible options for mitigating the identified risks
  • Report findings, risk assessment outcomes and business case on the need for control and risk mitigation action plans.
  • Monitors and analyzes bank risk exposures relative to its defined risk limits through regular business unit risk reports, self-risk assessment and defined key risk indicators (KRI) and Key Risk Performance Indicators (KPI).
  • Assist BUs and BRMs in the development of Key Risk Indicators (KRI) that may predict changes in the Key Performance indicators (KPI) of the BUs
  • Assist the Business Units (BU)/ Business Risk Managers (BRMs) performance of the risk assessments by identifying and measuring (if possible) internal and external risks that could negatively impact the Bank and threaten the achievement of its key initiatives, goals and objectives. Keep abreast of threat exposures of other institutions (local and international) and assess whether the Bank may be exposed to similar threats.
  • Report significant potential or actual risk exposures identified including the sources of risks and emerging risks using Operational Risk Management Tools, and planned mitigation efforts to the Risk Oversight Committee (ROC)
  • Assist subsidiaries in aligning their Risk Management framework with that of MBTC

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of any Business-related courses, preferably Economics, Accounting or Finance
  • At least 7 years working experience in credit with focus on operations risk
  • With People Manager experience
  • Must have a pro-active approach to problem solving and the ability to meet tight deadlines
