Position Title: Legal Officer

Job Summary:

• Provides the necessary and required legal services/assistance/advice to the Bank’s units and branches to ensure that its transactions, operations, activities and documentation are compliant with applicable laws/rules and to protect the interests of the Bank.

Role Exposure:

• Coordinate with concerned Head Office units, departments and divisions, Metro Manila and Countryside branches to obtain complete/correct information/documents necessary for legal proceedings, recordation or legal opinion.
• Drafts and/or reviews documents (i.e., contracts, agreements, forms, memos, letters) in relation to Bank’s transactions or to which the Bank is/will be a party or has/will have an interest in, as well as Bank policies, to ensure compliance with existing laws/rules and to protect the interest of the Bank
• Provides legal opinions/advice/assistance on legal issues endorsed by various units/branches of the Bank
• Coordinates with the different Bank units/branches, clients and other agencies and entities for the purpose of attending to the legal requirements of the Bank and rendering legal assistance to enforce the Bank’s rights and protect its interests
• Supervises the work of assigned legal assistant and staff of the department
• Proposes policies and adopts internal guidelines for effective and efficient banking documentation and handling of legal concerns/issues/cases endorsed by various units/branches of the Bank
• Prepares reports as may be required by bank units/branches and management
• Performs other related functions that may be assigned from time to time

Qualifications:

• Registered Lawyer
• Strong exposure as a corporate lawyer 
• Banking experience is preferred, but not required
