Position Title: Programmer Analyst (Data Engineer)

 

Job Summary:

 

The Programmer Analyst is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and supporting enterprise data solutions that enable the bank’s reporting, analytics, regulatory, risk management, and digital transformation initiatives. The role works closely with business units, data architects, analysts, and technology teams to develop scalable data pipelines, data warehouses, and cloud-based data platforms that deliver accurate, secure, and timely information for business decision-making. The Programmer Analyst also ensures compliance with data governance, security standards, and banking regulatory requirements while supporting the bank’s data-driven initiatives.

  

 

Duties and Responsibilities 

 

  • Design, develop, and maintain data integration, ETL/ELT, and data processing solutions to support enterprise data and analytics requirements.
  • Build and optimize data pipelines using technologies such as Databricks, Apache Spark, Python, SQL, and cloud-based data platforms.
  • Develop and support data warehouses, data marts, and Lakehouse architectures for reporting, analytics, and regulatory reporting.
  • Collaborate with business units, data analysts, and stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Integrate data from core banking systems, digital channels, third-party applications, databases, APIs, and external data sources.
  • Ensure data quality, accuracy, consistency, and integrity through data validation, profiling, cleansing, and monitoring activities
  • Support both batch and real-time data processing requirements for operational and analytical workloads.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize production data jobs to ensure system reliability, performance, and availability.
  • Participate in system design, coding, testing, implementation, and post-production support activities following established development standards.
  • Implement and maintain data governance, security controls, data lineage, and role-based access mechanisms in compliance with bank policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation, design specifications, operational procedures, and knowledge repositories.
  • Support DevOps and DataOps initiatives, including source code management, CI/CD pipelines, and automated deployment processes.
  • Work closely with project teams using Agile and Scrum methodologies to deliver technology solutions on schedule and within scope.
  • Provide technical support, knowledge sharing, and mentoring to junior developers and team members.
  • Continuously identify opportunities to improve data processes, system performance, and operational efficiency across the bank's data ecosystem.

 

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in Data Engineering, Data Warehousing, or Big Data solutions, with hands-on experience in Databricks, Apache Spark, and cloud-based data platforms
  • Strong programming and data development skills using Python, SQL, and PySpark (Scala is a plus). 
  • Experience designing and supporting ETL/ELT pipelines, data integration frameworks, data transformation processes, and data quality controls
  • Solid understanding of Lakehouse Architecture, Delta Lake, Medallion Architecture, and Data Modeling
  • Experience working with Azure (preferred), AWS, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP) data services. 
  • Strong knowledge of relational databases such as SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, and Databricks SQL, including query optimization and performance tuning. 
  • Experience handling large-scale structured and unstructured datasets, including batch processing, streaming pipelines, and real-time analytics.
  • Familiarity with Git, Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and DataOps/DevOps practices
  • Understanding of data governance, data lineage, data security, RBAC, and compliance requirements
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments and collaborating with cross-functional teams. 
  • Relevant certifications such as Databricks Data Engineer or Microsoft Azure Data Engineer (DP-203) are an advantage.
