Test Designer / Engineer

Job Summary

 

The Test Designer handles Test Planning functions in relation to testing of simple to complex system enhancements and implementations performed by internal delivery units or external vendors.  These functions include:
•    Test approach definition and review;
•    Effort estimation and work scheduling;
•    Test Case definition and review;
•    Test Data specifications preparation;

 

Specific Duties &  Responsibilities

  • Analyzes business and functional requirements;

  • Identifies and analyzes risks;

  • Determines effort estimates;

  • Establishes test approach;

  • Ensures compliance to defined entry and exit criteria;

  • Prepares Requirements Traceability Matrix;

  • Designs test cases using appropriate test design techniques (i.e. Equivalence class partitioning, Boundary values analysis, etc.);

  • Define test data specifications and test prerequisites;

  • Identifies Test Cases;

  • Reviews deliverables and provides sign-offs;

  • Liaises with project team members, department heads and ITG delivery units to ensure overall project delivery success.

  • Creates testing delivery progress status reports and socializes to the test leads, project manager, and other relevant stakeholders.

  • Contributes to continuous improvement initiatives;

  • Contributes to definition and improvement of Testing Policies and Strategies to be applied in all Testing delivery;

  • Applies innovative methods, processes and tools to enable cost-effective Defect Prevention activities;

  • Ensures compliance to operational level agreements with internal and external entities as applicable;

  • Performs other related functions that may be assigned from time to time.

The Test Engineer handles Manual Test Execution functions of quality assurance or testing in relation to simple to complex system enhancements and implementations performed by the Service Delivery, Digital Delivery and Service Management Divisions or external vendors. These functions include:

  • Test data preparation;

  • Manual Test Execution;

  • Test incidents reporting and defect logging;

  • Documentation of test results and artifacts;

 

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

 

  • Understands test pre-requisites, entry and exit criteria;

  • Prepares/creates test data required for test execution;

  • Executes smoke test to validate environment readiness for formal test;

  • Executes sanity test (intake test or confidence test) to validate product readiness for further test execution;

  • Executes manual test scripts to validate the application under test meets the functional requirements;

  • Documents test results and collates test artifacts;

  • Reports test incidents and/or defects in accordance to agreed severity and priority;

  • Manages incidents, defects and corrective actions to closure during test execution;

  • Executes re-test of manual test cases to validate defect fixes;

  • Reviews deliverables and provides sign-offs;
